High Performance, High Efficiency Home in Capital Hill Calgary
This beautiful 3,000 sqft, highly energy efficient home, was built in Calgary’s northwest inner city community of Capital Hill. This community is rich with mature trees and foliage and is sought after for infill developments. This laned home had to fit the community’s style and elegance yet promote gorgeous, individual interior and exterior finishes.
Utilizing high efficiency construction and engineering was also a key element in the overall design. Lastly, the home was designed with a growing family in mind and incorporating private and family space was a must.
This home’s design and finishing is breathtaking. It’s craftsman style, featuring beautiful blue composite siding and complementary red brick, fits right in with the community.
The interior boasts large living space with 4 bedrooms on the second floor and a very cleverly designed laundry room. The kitchen hosts an enormous quartz island which will be the envy of all their guests. The basement floor was finished with a durable epoxy designed for the kids play area, making it very comfortable on the feet.
The high performance, energy efficient construction was demonstrated with the blower door test. This home scored an astonishing 0.39 air changes per hour. To put this into perspective, that is 35% better than the very stringent Passive House certification requirements of 0.6 air changes per hour. The score was the best that the EnerGuide evaluator had seen to date. This ultimately means the energy consumption costs will be substantially lower than a house this size, saving thousands of dollars in energy costs for the family of this fine home.
We are very proud to have worked on this amazing home for such a fantastic family!
